re-generating the nyc block

An experiment in extreme zoning, this project reconsiders the floor area bonuses in high density districts in the NYC zoning resolution, manipulating individual lines of code to envision a future where increasingly scarce land needs to provide more regenerative potential. The project creates a catalog of formulas based on existing high-rise projects that use utilize green space in order to create more bulk, and in turn links the green spaces on these projects as a new virtual building site allowing additional floor area. These formulas are planted on vacant lots in the existing map of the city: larger lot sizes enable additional floor area and eventually branch out and connect, creating a (theoretically) limitless expansion of the city.
